Welcome to SCMUN 2026

Spring 2026

Dear Delegates and Advisors,

My name is Sabeeh Mirza and I have the immense honor of serving as your Secretary-General for SCMUN 2026. In its 13th year, SCMUN truly represents a labor of love and effort in fostering an intellectually stimulating and collaborative conference. The growth and continued development of SCMUN would not have been possible without all of our past delegates and faculty advisors, so whether this is your 13th SCMUN or your first, thank you, and welcome!

SCMUN 2026 will be held in the Spring at the University of Southern California campus in Los Angeles. Each year we focus on improving from past iterations of the conference, and I can promise that our Secretariat has dedicated countless hours to ensuring that this will be the best SCMUN yet.

This year’s committees will explore the theme “Converging Timelines: Learning from the Mistakes of the Past.” Committees hold a focus on temporal diversity. The Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND), 1944, and JCC: The American Revolution, are just two examples of committees that have been carefully selected to hold great application to the modern day, while allowing students to apply historical analysis and investigation. If experiencing the past (or future) isn’t for you, we have a variety of traditional (and non-traditional) Model UN committees to suit the needs and interests of all delegates.

SCMUN 2026 will feature 16 diverse and comprehensively considered committees. From the Commission on Science and Technological Development (CSTD)’s discussion of the impact of rare-earth minerals and artificial intelligence, to the International Police Force (INTERPOL)’s focus on preventing the radicalization of youth online, we hope that our delegates will walk away with a new outlook and appreciation for international collaboration as we move forward.

On a final note of appreciation, SCMUN would not be possible without our Secretariat and staff who have volunteered their time to ensure that this conference not only runs as smoothly as possible, but also serves as a fun and valuable educational experience.

I look forward to meeting you all in March. Until then, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns, and as always, Fight On!

Sabeeh Mirza, Secretary-General, SCMUN 2026
